Of course, God is enough! He is our Creator. He knows everything. He knows our hearts, He knows our minds, and He knows the good plans He has for us. He is certainly willing and able to completely free us from any addiction.
So, why do we still struggle? Why do our prayers seemingly go unanswered? Why isn’t God hearing us?
It’s not God that has a hearing loss. It’s us. Our fears, our wounds, and our inability to trust get in the way of us hearing and believing God’s truth. It doesn’t make us unacceptable or inferior. It just means that, before we can receive the fullness of his truth, we have to, with his help, remove the things that keep us from being able to hear his answers.
That’s the REAL recovery process—learning to trust God and his people. The closer and more transparent we get with God and others, the more the need for the addictive behaviors fades away.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. —Matthew 6:33 (NIV)
