One of my favorite scriptures has always been Jeremiah 29:11. It is a precious promise that has carried me through my most difficult days:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
My Lord has plans for me! Good plans. No matter how bleak my situation seems, no matter how challenging the road ahead appears, I can count on the fact that God, not only knows where I am today, but has something better planned for me. It will not always be this way. He won’t leave me hopeless.
There are seasons in all of our lives when we feel alone, flailing in the mire. We can’t see beyond the pain and frustration of this minute. It is these times when that scripture passage becomes especially sweet. Even though I can’t see around the bend, there is hope and a future there. I’m not wandering aimlessly. There’s a goal. There’s a plan. Something positive is always ahead of me. God said.
And the most exciting thing is, that scripture isn’t just for me. It is for you as well. God has plans for YOU and they are GOOD. If you can’t see it right now. Hang on! Those blessings are right around the bend!
