Cure for a Messed Up Life

We’ve all made wrong choices. Our lives have taken us in directions we never anticipated or intended. It’s easy to start believing that we’ve strayed too far. We’ve screwed up too much. There’s nothing we can do to make it right.

Today, as I stop to consider what I have to be thankful for,  I am reminded of two quotations. Although neither mentions God specifically,  they both speak profoundly of one of the most incredible, wonderful gifts that God offers us.

The first is:

“At any given moment you have the power to say this is NOT how the story is going to end.”

It’s true. We are not powerless. We are not doomed to remain a victim of our past wounds or mistakes. No matter how bad of a hand life has dealt us, we can ultimately finish — and even win — the game . . . IF we don’t give up and quit playing.

The second quote is similarly themed:

“Though NO ONE can go back and make a new start . . .  ANYONE can start now and make a brand new ending.”

Although none of us can undo our past choices and the consequences they have created, God doesn’t turn his back on us and write us off as a lost cause when we mess up. He continues to beckon to us to surrender our lives . . . and our fears . . .to him. He wants us to allow him to redirect and bless our remaining days on this earth. No matter how many times we fail, he is always eager and willing to give us another chance at a new and better life!

Now that’s REALLY something to be thankful for, don’t you think?
